About Us

Alan graduated from Bethel Theological Seminary San Diego in June 2001 with a Master of Divinity degree. Prior to becoming Pastor at Highlands Community Church he worked as Pastor of Christian Education at Clairemont Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Alan also worked for the Home of Guiding Hands in El Cajon, managing a workshop that employed people with developmental disabilities.

Alan has been married to his wife Lynn for over 26 years.  Lynn is involved in the prayer ministry, women's ministry, Sonshine Club and... almost everything else at HCC.  They have four daughters who attend Steele Canyon High School, Biola University and one that is working on her teaching credential at San Diego State while working with elementary and middle school kids. Alan believes that ministry starts with his family and he loves being a husband and a Dad.

Alan accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was a child and through many good (and some difficult) life experiences he has come to rely deeply on God's love and faithfulness. He is excited about what God is doing at Highlands Community Church and looks forward to being a part of God's work in the lives of people at HCC and throughout the world.

Everyone at Highlands represent the growing number of people who have sensed God drawing them into the work of reaching out to our community with the incredible Good News of Jesus Christ! We hope that you might come and join them and all of us as we seek to Develop Eternally Significant Relationships!

Where we are headed...

Highlands Community Church no longer meets on Sunday, though we still get together with people in our community.  At this point our only direction is following Jesus wherever He leads and finding contentment in simple obedience.   Pastor Alan is working for a local non-profit, supporting the needs of people with developmental disabilities and serving in a local church. We have started a Bible Study in our home to continue to reach out to the people in our community and are still working to Develop Eternally Significant Relationships in the lives of people around us, in Spring Valley, and wherever we find ourselves.
